Why Locals Love Bob Evans

Nestled in the heart of Elkins, West Virginia, Bob Evans offers a quintessential American family dining experience that has earned its reputation as a beloved local breakfast and takeout restaurant. Specializing in hearty, farm-fresh comfort food, this spot is perfect for those craving classic, homestyle flavors served with a welcoming, farmhouse atmosphere.

The menu is a delightful celebration of traditional favorites crafted with care and quality ingredients. Start your day with their indulgent Rio Grande Omelet, a vibrant three-egg creation bursting with savory sausage, colorful bell peppers, sautéed onions, and a rich blend of cheddar and provolone cheeses. It arrives topped with fresh salsa and sour cream, paired perfectly with your choice of golden hash browns, crispy home fries, or fresh seasonal fruit—accompanied by freshly baked bread that tastes like it came from your grandmother's kitchen. For a robust option, the Steak Tips Omelet made with USDA Choice Beef brings tender, flavorful steak combined with fluffy eggs, setting the tone for a memorable meal.

Dinner selections shine as well, especially the Lemon Garlic Chicken & Steak Tips Combo, where a perfectly grilled chicken breast glazed with garlic butter meets juicy, mushroom and onion-topped steak tips. This satisfying plate is served alongside loaded mashed potatoes and crisp broccoli, rounding out a meal that is both comforting and sophisticated. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Fish Fry Platter featuring wild-caught Alaska cod fillets, lightly battered to a flaky crunch that delights the palate without overpowering the delicate fish.

Families will find plenty to love here, including a thoughtfully curated Kids Menu. From the whimsically named CinnaBunny French Toast—cinnamon roll French toast adorned with banana slices, blueberries, and cream cheese icing—to the fun and flavorful Double Dipper French Toast Sticks served with dipping syrup and caramel apple dippers, kids enjoy a memorable meal complete with their choice of sausage or bacon. Add in hand-breaded chicken tenders, and mealtime becomes a treat for all ages.

Guests often praise the warm, attentive service, with many mentioning the friendly staff like Rachel and the new but diligent waitresses who ensure every order is perfectly timed and executed. The atmosphere resonates with a cozy farmhouse charm, creating a familiar and inviting setting that welcomes large families and solo diners alike. While restrooms may not be the highlight, the bustling nature of this eatery doesn't detract from the overall experience.

Regular visitors like Recardo Penny appreciate Bob Evans as a rare gem among Elkins’ limited breakfast options, returning time and again for its reliable quality and comforting flavors. The glowing reviews from patrons such as Larry Aikens, who found the vegetable soup, pecan cranberry salad, and legendary turkey sandwich delicious, echo the consistent care put into every dish. Brooke Daniels’ enthusiasm for the evolving menu options and friendly staff further underscores this restaurant’s appeal, making it a go-to destination whether for a fulfilling breakfast, lunch, or takeout dinner.

Ultimately, Bob Evans in Elkins is more than just a restaurant — it's a place where familiar favorites meet genuine hospitality, wrapped in a down-to-earth, family-friendly setting. Whether you're craving buttery omelets, robust steak combos, or kid-approved breakfast treats, this location delivers flavorful, satisfying meals that make each visit feel like a comforting return home.

There was eight in my family tonight we had a delightful young waitress her first day on the job. I asked her name and I’m sorry I forget it. She double checked our order. Brought out all of our orders at the same time the food was so wonderful She was so helpful. We all use the word, “Excellent” service with her. When I went up to pay for my dinner, I had to stop and speak to her again and tell her what a great job she did and we really appreciate it First day on the job this young lady had to realize that yes she did an excellent job with us. We all will be back.

Buttery goodness! Restrooms could use a little more love but this place does a ton of traffic so I can't complain much. The steakhouse burger was delicious but wasn't really the best value at $10.19 for the size you get (smaller than Burger King). Still giving them 5 stars for the excellent service.

Good food, farm house atmosphere , friendly staff, and new options on the menu every time I visit, which I am grateful for, but if you decide to try the dang that's hot fried chicken just be warned it is really dang hot, maybe get the sauce on the side until you've tried it.

Bob Evans has always been one of my favorites. I have noticed that they’re not all the same and some are better than others. The Elkins area has a limited amount of breakfast specialized restaurants so I do plan to patronize this one whenever I can.

We had a table of like 20 people. The waitress handled it perfectly. I believe she said it was her first big table. I don't know her name, but she was awesome. The food was really good. We had to wait a while but it was due to our group size. She checked in with us and made sure we were all good.

The Best Bob Evans in WV by far!! Better than Huntington, Charleston, Logan and Clarksburg. The food was delicious and the service was quick, attentive and friendly. Kudos to the entire team.
